FAQs

Does temperature affect my battery performance?
Lithium-Ion batteries are resilient to cold temperatures. However, we always recommend charging and storing the battery in a safe, dry, room-temperature environment. Long-term cold weather use/storage can allow the internal temperature of the battery to drop away. If the internal temperature of the battery drops below -17°C voltage output may be reduced, and battery communication may be affected. However, if a cold battery is brought back into a safe, dry, room temperature environment and allowed to warm up (should take no more than 10-20 minutes) then there should be no long-term negative impact on battery performance or lifespan. Please note that we recommend placing the battery on the charger after it has returned to room temperature to ensure maximum charge when in use.
Can this unit be used on gravel?
We do not recommend using our single-stage snow throwers or our snow shovels on gravel surfaces. Gravel, stones, or any loose surface material will be picked up and thrown by the snow thrower, causing damage to the unit and potentially nearby property and people.
What is the recommended ambient temperature range?
Snow throwers can be stored at any temperature if the environment is sheltered (indoors) and dry. Batteries and chargers should always be stored indoors at room temperature.
How large of a driveway can be cleared with this product?
Our single-stage snow thrower kits are often supplied with enough battery capacity to cover the average 4-car driveway. It is important to note that the overall run time received is ultimately determined by the load acting against the unit and will fluctuate.
How difficult are Greenworks single-stage snow throwers to assemble?
Our units have been designed for quick and easy assembly! The majority of single-stage units can be assembled in approximately 15 minutes. All instructions are clearly detailed within the owner's manual supplied with your purchase. If you should have any questions or concerns, we would be happy to provide assistance.
My chute is clogged with snow, what should I do?
Heavy or icy snow may cause the discharge chute to become clogged while in use. If you do get a clog, DO NOT attempt to unclog it with your hands or feet. Instead, turn your machine off and wait at least 10 seconds for it to fully stop. Then, use a chute-clearing brush or a similar object to clear the clog (not included). Operating Tip: If you notice that the chute is clogging often, try adjusting the angle of the chute and impeller speed (if applicable).
How far can the snow thrower discharge snow?
The distance that snow is thrown varies depending on the type of snow, wind, and angle of the chute deflector. Light snow will have a greater throwing distance in comparison to wet/heavy snowfalls.
Are skid shoes wearable parts?
Yes. Greenworks skid shoes are wearable; wearable parts carry a 90-day warranty against wear and tear.
What battery is compatible with this tool?
Only Greenworks batteries, chargers, and machines of the same voltage are compatible and interchangeable with one another. Please be advised that the higher the ampere-hour (Ah) rating is on a battery, the more run time it can provide.
Can it be used on slopes or hills?
Yes, this unit can be operated on slopes and or hills. Always exercise extreme caution when operating on slopes and ensure you have proper footing and balance at all times.
Can I put chains on the tires to prevent slipping?
No, the wheels on our single-stage snow thrower models are not designed for use with tire chains.
What are the benefits of having an adjustable impeller speed?
The benefit of having an adjustable impeller speed ensures that the unit can be used in a variety of areas and conditions. A lower auger speed usually translates to a smaller throwing distance - low speed also gives the user more control so that you can direct the snow where you want and avoid overshooting or re-covering previously cleared areas. When operating the unit at a higher speed, you can throw the snow further when the space allows and clear the area more quickly. Operating Tip: If you notice that the chute is clogging often, try speeding up the auger.
What is the impeller made of?
Most Greenworks impellers are made of plastic. The exception is the Greenworks 80V 22”, which uses a metal/rubber impeller assembly. The dual-stage models use fully metal impellers.
Is it difficult to use snow shovel/thrower with an extension cord?
It does take time to get used to having a cord attach to your snow shovel, we suggest keeping the electric cord as close to the outlet as you can and then move away from the outlet, so the slack always stay on the side you are moving away from or put the cord over your shoulder. That way it is always behind you while using the snow shovel but over time it will get easier to manage.
What are the benefits of a circular cord head?
The benefit of a circular cord head; the head of the power cable is designed to be circular; this is to ensure the power cable from the unit can securely hold an extension cord and to reduce any chance of moisture or snow from getting into the two parts. The head of the power cord is flexible, any universal single head outdoor extension cord will fit, simply squeeze the sides, and insert the extension cord.
Are the Skid Plates wearable? What are they made of?
Greenworks skid plates are a wearable; wearable parts carry a 90-day warranty against wear and tear. Most of our units have a metal skid plates except for our 22" snow thrower models which have a nylon design.
Can you lubricate the snow chute to throw snow further?
Lubricant can be used to reduce clogging which can prevent the snow thrower from throwing at capacity. However, please keep in mind the heavier the snow the less it will be thrown. To reduce the issues with snow clogging which can affect performance you can use an ice repellent or Teflon spray.

A beast of a unit!

Purchased this unit last season. It's compact and mighty. I have a greenworks 60V mower, blower and string trimmer so lots of batteries to tackle major snow storms. We live in southern Ontario where we get a whole mixed bag of winter weather. I love my greenworks snow blower, it easily clears my 6-car driveway without any hesitation. Can't wait to use it again this season!!

Heavy snow becomes a expensive push shovel

Picked up this unit Dec 2026 it snowed march 13 2026 and decided to blow snow on the 14th. The unit bogs down with heavy snow and the motor shuts down because it wont through the snow. Being a single stage you need to push hard and it turned into a push shovel. It is good for fresh snowfall light snow anything at the bottom of the driveway you need to spread it around to throw the snow anywhere.

Hello Rod Warren. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on the 60V 20' Snow Thrower. Single-stage snow throwers are designed primarily for clearing fresh to moderately packed snow. Heavier or compacted snow, such as the dense accumulation that can form at the end of a driveway after plowing, can be more challenging and may cause the unit to slow or temporarily shut down as the motor protection system activates to prevent overheating or overload. When you encounter heavier snow, here are a few tips that may help improve performance include:
Taking a thinner pass by clearing only part of the snow depth at a time.
Moving at a slower pace to allow the auger time to process the snow.
Breaking up compacted snow piles slightly before clearing them.
Ensuring the battery is fully charged and warm, as cold batteries can reduce power output.
The unit typically performs best in fresh snowfall up to the recommended depth and when cleared shortly after accumulation. If you would like help with troubleshooting or have questions about getting the best performance from your snow thrower, our team would be happy to assist. NO POWER, doesn’t Throw snow well

Purchased this snow Blower (thrower) because I have the 60V lawnmower, trimmer and leave blower.

I made a mistake.

This snow blower plugs if it doesn’t have enough snow then stalls out and shuts down if there is too much. It’s maddening, today we got 10cm of nice light snow and this blower tripped off about every metre. The snow it was blowing traveled about 1 metre out the chute.

I’m stuck with it and wish I never spent the money on the tool. A shovel is quicker.

Save your money and buy something else.

Hi Tom. Thank you for your feedback. This model is a single-stage snow thrower designed for light to moderate snowfall. Snow removal places a much higher demand on the battery and motor than other 60V tools such as mowers, trimmers, or blowers. If the snow depth or operating conditions exceed the unit’s intended range, the built-in overload protection may activate, causing the machine to shut down. Limited throwing distance can also occur when battery output is insufficient for the snow load. For best performance, higher capacity 60V batteries (5.0Ah or greater) and gradual clearing passes are recommended rather than attempting to remove the full depth of snow at once. For customers who regularly experience heavier snowfall or require greater throwing distance, our 60V dual-stage snow thrower may be a better fit. We are sorry hear that this product did not align with your needs, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. If you ever have specific questions or concerns about our products, contact Greenworks via chat on our website (www.greenworkstools.ca), call us at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS) or refer to the FAQ ask section of the tool or ask us a question, anytime. Exceeded Expectations — Better Than $1200 EGO!

I recently purchased the Greenworks 60V 20" Brushless Snow Thrower (4.0Ah Battery + Charger), and it has genuinely exceeded my expectations. I purchased the EGO Power+ SNT2110 Peak Power 21" 56V Snow Blower, which cost almost $1200+ tax, so I wasn’t expecting a $599 machine to outperform it—but it absolutely did. I retuned EGO after using Greenworks Snow Blower.
Build Quality
The first thing that impressed me was the all‑steel housing and steel auger on the Greenworks. It feels solid, durable, and built to last. In comparison, the EGO uses a combination of hard plastic and steel, and the difference in sturdiness is noticeable.
Performance
I have a 4‑car driveway, and my first test was during a snowfall that was on the heavier side. The Greenworks handled it with ease—no bogging down, no struggling, just smooth, consistent clearing. Even more impressive, after finishing the entire driveway, I still had 50% battery remaining.
Value
This is where Greenworks truly shines. At half the price of the EGO, it outperforms it in build quality, power, and battery efficiency. It’s rare to find a product that delivers more while costing significantly less.
Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for a reliable, powerful, and well‑built cordless snow blower without spending over a thousand dollars, the Greenworks 60V is a fantastic choice. It’s proven itself on my property, and I’m extremely satisfied with the purchase.

Does a good job

I have a somewhat large driveway and 2, 15 foot walk ways. I used a full 4Ah and a full 2.5 Ah for everything. The snow was fluffy and around 5cm or 2inches. Heavy wet snow slows things down but works, i just needed a bit more batterypower. I love greenworks

Not a ton of power but decent

It cuts off if the snow is too heavy/packed which for us was about 4 inches worth but it does a better job than a shovel!

Works Great. Easy to Put Together.

I was surprised by how light-weight this thing is. Seems to work great (once you have batteries). Mine first came without a battery. Luckily I own a bunch of Greenworks products and I was able to try it with a spare. Hoping this holds up for multiple years. It was easy to put together and the built-in lights will be nice with late evening or early morning snow clearing.

Best purchase ever

I purchased this cordless snow blower to clean my huge driveway. It did a great job. I wish I would have bought it sooner. Now my back won’t hurt from shoveling. Could use better pictures in the instructions manual. I didn’t know what some of the parts were I’m not a man

I love this snowblower!

I am a single 5' 2 woman and recently purchased this snowblower. I was concerned that it was going to be too big and heavy for me to manage. It is not! My friend and I assembled what needed to be done (most of it is already together) fairly easily....a few little glitches but it took us 35 minutes. It works well is quiet and the battery lasts for quite a while. Greenworks accidentally sent me the wrong battery but once we figured that out customer service quickly took care of it and I had the correct battery within 3 days.

Saving hours of time

I bought this after our first major snowstorm of the season. I have the lawn mower and the trimmer and figured this would be just as good as those tools. I not only do my driveway sidewalk and walkway but also do a few neighbors' sidewalks and walkways too. I can do 8 houses worth of snow removal on one charge and in about 30 minutes instead of about 2 hours.

Better that my old 2 stage by far.

Lite compact and easy to use. Does an excellent job even in large snow storms.

Easy to handle

I bought it about 2 months ago before the winter. I like its light weight and quick start. It works great if the snow is dry. It does not work that great if the snow is wet. I try to use it before the snow becomes wet based wether prediction.

Best Christmas gift I could give my son

My son 34 just bought his first home and had none of the big ticket items needed to maintain a house. After researching options this company beat out the competition by far on paper. As a mom a snowblower was my first priority since we live in the suburbs of Chicago. I didn’t want my son to be shoveling and have a heart attack. He got to try his blower last week as the snow piled quickly. He came in with a smile after only 20 minutes of clearing the drifts up to three feet in front of the garage door. To say he couldn’t believe how quickly and easily the snow was removed is an understatement!!! He already had the Greenwork’s lawnmower and loved it so now we will be lucky to have only Greenwork’s tools! Thank you so much for making great products with so many options! From a most grateful mother!!!

Wonderful addition

I am thrilled with this snowblower. Came just in time for the first snow. It barely slowed down in three inches of snow. Glad to add it to the rest of my 60V greenworks products

Works good

I bought this about 3 yrs ago and it has great power considering it's batter ran. Now it won't work with over 3-4 inches of wet snow but anything under that it does it's job!

Cleaner and Quieter

We bought our snow thrower last December. Neighbors all about us have gas snowblowers. The neighborhood gets smelly with fumes. Not ours! Love that our 20 Greenworks snow thrower is both quiet and clean (non-polluting). Only drawback is the battery only lasts an hour before having to get recharged. This only mattered once this past winter when we had 2’ of snow fall. It just took longer to clear. However we were still quieter and cleaner.

Mighty Good Machine

I am a fan of greenworks tools. They simply get the job done as promised: efficiently economically handily. As with all tools they must be used within the parameters of their design. This 20 snow blower can throw moderately deep (~8 inches) or heavy snow a good 10 feet or more depending on the position of the chute. (Turning it fully sideways naturally creates more turbulence.) Too deep or heavy and the motor will stall repeatedly but taking a narrower swath (and more time) can help.Likewise battery life is conditional but I am blown away (see what I did there) that I can do much or all of my six-car+ driveway the private road that fronts two other houses and a 50-ft patio on a single battery. There are times though where I can barely get that done even with a second battery this a 5A that came with the 20 lawn mower. (Charging can take a couple of hours.) Still my neighbor who has a hefty gas-powered blower with tire chains marvels at how quick and nimble I am.I purchased the snow blower mower and a greenworks chainsaw all within the past year so I can’t speak with authority on their durability. They are light-weight but not flimsy and I expect many years of trouble-free service. Time will tell.

Great machine

Finally got a chance to use it as we got about 6 inches of snow. The first layer of snow was wetter than the top layers so it was a bit heavy and this machine plowed right through it. I had to stop a few times to clear out the wet compacted snow but that was expected. I was able to do my two car driveway the side walk for me and my neighbor and half of his driveway as well and still had power left over. Wish the battery had a better grip to pull it out of the machine. *TIP: whenever possible point the shooter up as much as possible it clogs less and uses less energy to push the snow out.
