FAQs

Is it difficult to use snow shovel/thrower with an extension cord?
It does take time to get used to having a cord attach to your snow shovel, we suggest keeping the electric cord as close to the outlet as you can and then move away from the outlet, so the slack always stays on the side you are moving away from or put the cord over your shoulder. That way it is always behind you while using the snow shovel but over time it will get easier to manage.
Can I use my Snow Shovel on uneven pavement?
We do not recommend using this snow shovel on uneven or non-paved areas. It works best on smooth and flat surface areas. As the operator works along the uneven surface, the tool will need to be lifted to avoid contact. Contact to non-paved areas will damage the scraper faster the more the unit makes hard contact.
Does the Snow Shovel have a chute?
The Snow Shovel is not equipped with a chute; it is a light duty unit, perfect for light to moderate snow conditions. We suggest directing the snow in front or to either side by pushing the snow shovel forward so that it rides on the scraper. The direction of the snow is changed when the user turns the shovel.
Why won’t my snow shovel start?
The tool is equipped with a safety start up feature. The units will only start when the following sequence is done: 1.Verify that the battery pack is inserted into the battery compartment. 2.Press and hold the lock-out button 3.While holding the lock-out button, press and hold the trigger switch. Please note, the Snow Shovel will not start if the lock-out button is not held until the trigger switch is lifted. Once trigger is pressed and unit is started, release the lock-out button.
Can I use my Snow Shovel on stairs?
Snow shovels are an effective tool for clearing steps and decks with ease. They are lightweight, gasless, and easy to start, so almost anyone can operate them.

Interesting

I used it for the first time today after that snow Shinanagins has happened in Essex county. Clean right to the cement. If large drift use only half so it doesn't shut off. Now just need to get used to it. Going to hopefully make clearing the snow easier though out the Winter. Will keep people posted. So second time trying to use it and kind of disappointed. Was in the garage over night went to use it and all it did was sputter no snow flowing. The safety switch was pressed and the trigger as it was released. So right now I'm at a bit of a loss.2026/01/ 26 So I've finally had the chance to get to really use this machine. I'm truly now impressed with it. Worth the purchase honestly! I just cleared my driveway and did a really good job. Cleared a 18" snow drifts that was next to the gate and back of my place. Hint though when using it keep a part clear so it doesn't choke. Over all glad I have it. Cheers.Followed the instructions too.

Does the job

Works great and the battery lasts long enough for me to finish the driveway and back deck. It is heavy and just sits on the ground, could use something on the base to make pushing it easier, but overall I am happy with it.

Puissant et efficace.

Efficace, mais effectivement un peu lourd.

Trop lourd dans la manipulation

Assez lourd à manipuler bon dans la neige folle seulement. Pas recommander dans les marches.

Love this snow shovel. Clears my 16’ x 16’ back deck, the concrete slab between the deck and garage, the front porch, and the snow in front of the garage on 1 battery charge. Sends the snow way out into the yard. No more lifting shovels for me! It’s been a game changer for me this winter in Sault Ste.Marie!!

Worked great, then quit.

Used it about 20 times over 2 winters. Worked well, threw snow well, slightly heavy, but to be expected. Quit just into the third winter. Didn’t get to use it much, so it’s a bit of a dud.

After Two Years….

I love it. We live in a new build semi near Ottawa, ON… laneway is two cars wide 1.5 cars deep.
Light snow is a breeze, it throws it well onto my front lawn; heavy snow is easy, throws it far enough onto my lawn as well. If I was going to nitpick, I wish it had a directional attachment to be able to aim where I blow the snow.
I fully recommend this tool.

So far, so good!

Item arrived, battery was charged with anticipation of the first snow fall in Toronto. Happy to say it performed well. The shovel handled the wet snow with ease and moved it with no issues. The battery lasted long enough to finish my driveway, sidewalk and my neighbours sidewalks. My only issue is that Greenworks should offer a diverted unit (to direct the snow) as an option. Other than that....so far, so good!

3 strikes, I might be out

I have three of these units in my garage that do not work. First one worked three times, the replacement did not work right out of the box, and the third one did not work this year after about using it 5 times last year. The replacement warranty and customer service for all of my Greenworks products has been good, but as the defective items stack up in my garage, after having three shovels not work, a leaf blower not work, and a couple of lawn mowers stop working, I’m “beginning” to question the quality of these products. If it wasn’t for owning a number of the batteries, I probably would have changed brands by now.

It works

Won't know how good it works until we get a little bit of snow.

Good and bad

Pros: it throws snow like you wouldn't believe, far!, Fairly easy to manage weight wise. It's not light but not super heavy., It's not that noisy, cleans right to the ground, Did a six car driveway in less than 20 mins (light snow maybe 2-3cm of med heavy snow)Cons: the battery!!! It went from a full charge to the first light which means it sucks that battery quickly. If ur in need, buy an extra battery but they are NOT cheap, weight is not light but not super heavy but if u are out there for 20 mins it gets pretty heavy after a while for some people who aren't strong.Overall: good product, fix the battery life!;-)

Powerful but heavy

This shovel is very sturdy . I remember the Toro electric shovel from my childhood had a flimsy feel. This one is the opposite and is a price to it, heavy weight and less maneuverability. I bought this shovel so my teens can find shovelling more fun but because of the shovel's height and weight using the shovel, it is not a good experience for them . So I am the only one using it . After shoveling my sidewalk and walkway and did my neighbor’s the shovel still has power but my forearms were sore .

Nice tool BUT !

It's great quality and works really well. However it is a bit heavy...

The snow shovel throws the snow a good distance.

The battery lasts about 40 minutes. I like the fact that you can use the same size batteries from other Greenworks products. My only criticism is that Greenworks recommends that the snow shovel needs to be stored indoors (heated place).

Works great!

A little heavy for my wife but works great.

way better than a shovel but not great for tight places... only has one direction to shoot the snow.

first thing... it was quit a bit heavier than I expected. having said that you don't throw it over your shoulder like a shovel full of snow(which is much heavier). it's very quiet which surprised me. I also wasn't expecting how far this thing throws snow so watch out where you point it. the emergency stop is instant which is nice. the battery charged fast. i have about 30 or 40ft of narrow sidewalk to do so no problem with the run time but i don't think it would last long enough for big stuff. I was surprised at how it handle packed down stuff but of coarse if you get it when it's fresh it's effortless. battery lasts half as long in hard snow

It works well if the snow is not wet, it struggles when it encounters fallen leaves or wet snow

It’s best at cutting a path to remote sheds. It takes some getting used to at first, but after a few runs it’s possible to clear walkways and regular size driveways in less time than using a snow shovel, and with less effort.

Heavier than expected, but works well

The Greenworks electric shovel works very well for our purposes, but we found it to be much heavier than expected. Have only had the opportunity to use it once, so a little to early to give a thorough review of the product.
